I talked to many legislators in Albany about parks on Melville road because there are no parks near Melville road. But I was told that Mayor of Farmingdale has the power to authorize. There are few empty lots near golf course along Melville road which can be bought and turn into parks. Kids and seniors will benifit a lot.

I would like to see more about the fire dept. Those guys and girls leave their familys all the time to go help our town.I know my husband is one of them! why not have a whole section about them with pictures and events they are holding.I went to their oppen house and it was realy sad on the towns part that their was like nobody their. I'm a 17 yr Fdale resident who would like to post a comment on how although many oppose any of the many conflicts these days i'd just like to say that there are still some who appreciate what others will do for them. Both my son & I have gotten thanks for him serving in the marines. I love all of them from the Woman in church when he was home on leave, the veterans & their families & the lady who gave him delights in the entennamens in Brentwood, to the Marine/ officer with some sound advice for his future at the luncheonetta. Wanting a Stop & Shop on Motor Ave, could only be the desire of our politicians. For what reasons-is another question. This will render that intersection totally useless-especially on Weekends.Motor ave already has seen some of the worst accidents in Nassau County.This shows that our Town Board simply does not respond to area resident's concerns. Hi, Thanks to your alumni page, my husband Ben and I have found a beautiful new community in VA and will be moving in June. I posted my info on the site and was contacted by a couple we went to HS with who live there. We haven't seen them in 40 years. When I told them our son lives in VA, we found out they are only a 1/2 hour away from him. They invited us to visit them and we loved it there. We will now be living a few blocks from them and they are checking the construction of our house and sending us pictures on line. Although we will miss Farmingdale, after living here 50 years, it will be great to live near our son and to know there are really great people nearby. We will continue to access this web site when we leave and it will help us keep ties with a place we have loved all these years. I am so thrilled to have found this website. Our family moved to Florida in 1972. We lived at 7 Willard Ave. We have visited a few times over the years and Farmingdale is still such a lovely town. We have wonderful memories of 4th of July fireworks, going to school at WWP and Howitt, Brownies, Girl Scouts, great Italian ices, potato salad, waiting for "Santa" to come to the booth by the bank in town,Memorial Day parade, Hawks football games etc. etc. Even though it's been 30 years, Farmingdale is still "home".

As a senior at Farmingdale Senior High School, I have spent almost four years wondering why the music department has not gotten the recognition they so deserve. This is my fourth year in Ms. Linsley's Women's Choir and I know that many awards have been won by the chorus, both Women's and Mixed. Including- from my completed 3 years- four first place trophies from two years of competition (Last year, 2001-2002, over night trips were not allowed) and a judge's choice award which was the highest honor in our first competition when I was in ninth grade. We also performed at NYSSMA and got the highest grade. This was only when I was in the chorus. Years before there have been many awards. In the other music classes, such as band and orchestra, they have also won many awards. Now, my complaint is why the high school has trophies cases for all the sports but none for the Music Department. Instead we have to keep them in the classrooms where visitors and even teachers and students can't see them. And also why this page has a separate page for football and soccer, but none for the music? I asked only for the recognition we very much deserve. Thankyou. Please respond.

Just a note of thanks for the Main Street live web cam, especially during this snowy winter. I work in Manhattan and depend upon the forecast to determine whether I should leave work early. Nothing can be more accurate than a real time view of Main Street, which allows me to see how much snow is on the ground, how much is on the street and how traffic is moving in our town.

It truly upsets me that because of a few incredibly irresponsible people the Forum had to be shut down. I usually do not post on the Forum, however, the information I read there was terrific. I felt informed. I knew how my community and neighbors felt about issues that should concern all of us.
The one time I did post was in regard to my missing cat. Although I did get one very nasty comment, most of the people who responded were helpful and caring. I didn't feel soooo alone.
Fran and Darlene have done a wonderful job, and have performed a great community service. I hope they are allowed to do this for us again in the near future!

I am dismayed to find the forum closed! This vital part of your site served many of us on a daily basis. It informed us and presented the varied views and opinions of our neighbors. I am saddened to see that you have allowed the VERY FEW to deny this sounding board to the very many who enjoyed it in a responsible manner. Again the minority has been allowed to deny the majority a privilege that is needed in our community. I have read your recent postings and understand the problems that you were facing, it is a shame that this drastic an action was needed. You two have done a great job with this site and I thank you for all of your good work and efforts. Happy anniversary, I hope that you can find some way to open the forum again.

I really miss the Forum. Please reconsider opening this page back up. It's a shame that the few bad apples actually got their way. The Forum always has great information on it. I've learned so much from this web site, information that if your not "in the click" you can find out. There are many more good apples then bad. I really hope to see it back open soon. Fran & Darlene, Happy Anniversary. I think you both have done an excellent job on the site. As you know I do not live in Fdale, but I do work in town & I am working on getting my company to advertise on your site. I feel very sad that the forum needed to be closed it was a way of keeping in touch with the town, I do live near by & have come shopping into town even before I work here. I hope you are able to get the forum problems fixed so all the good people can once again enjoy the town news. Your website is one of the bright spots of my day. As a retiree and a 30 year resident of Farmingdale, I find out about things on your site that would otherwise be difficult to find. Today I signed on only to find a very disappointing notice posted on the Forum that new postings would not be accepted until further notice. I think it is absolutely terrible that so called educated people in this world CANNOT understand the english language. I wonder what part of NO BASHING they don't understand. I don't blame you for your actions since the final posting before the shut-down was one that had to be completely deleted. I hope this action will be a lesson to most of these bashers (and they know who they are) and something can be brought about to restore order and the forum for the majority of non-bashers in this community. It's really a shame that a few bad apples can destroy something as good as the Farmingdale Forum. Keep up the superior job you are both doing and I hope to see the forum back ASAP.

Congratulations Fran & Darlene! I found out about this site in Newsday, I love it and I have learned from it. Having 2 children in Fdale schools this site helps inform parents of what's going on. I've lived in Fdale for 5 1/2 years. We are very happy here, love Northside & Howitt, haven't experienced the High School yet. I'm spreading the word of your website on the soccer fields, supermarket, etc. I think it's great and check it everyday. Unfortunatly I noticed the Bashboard info in the forum & pulled it up. Was shocked & appalled, I think it was wrong for the child to give the info on the forum, making it avaliable for kids who weren't aware of it. I certainly hope the investigators on this can do something about it. As for the lady who said she's sending her daughter to an all girls Catholic school, whatever's at public schools you can be assured it's at private schools. Anyway, keep up the good work ladies!!

I love this site!!! I found it by accident even before the Newsday article came out, but only started reading all the pages since that time. I'm really impressed with the quality and comprehensive content of this site. I'm learning things about Farmingdale that I never knew and I've live here all my 31 years!! Bravo!!

I just wanted to let you know that I read about your website in the Sunday Newsday today March 5th and went right to the computer to see it. Its a very nice website. When my husband and I were first married we resided in Farmingdale. We lived there for 4 years. My mother in law also lived in Farmingdale for 9 years until her passing this past December.
